Cu Chi is located on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh city, about 70 km from the center. It was voted as one of the top 7 most exotic destinations in Southeast Asia and listed among the world’s coolest places by The New York Time.
This tunnels were built by Viet Cong for their resistance to the enemies. There are some ways to travel, but 1-hour Cu Chi tunnels tour by boat driving down the Sai Gon river is highly recommended.
Time to visit
Cu Chi tunnels are warmly welcomed visitors all year round. However, the rainy season in the South of Vietnam can make your trip less comfy. Almost the tours include Cu Chi tunnel entrance fee, so you just need to pay some exclusive costs.
“Went with Les Rives last Tuesday ,would be one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam.
The 1 hour by speedboat was fantastic, we were there before all the bus tours arrived had a great lunch and extremely well looked after on board and at the tunnels.
Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone”said by a visitor on trip advisor
You will join a tour group with your English-speaking guide at Bach Dang Pier in Ho Chi Minh city. The cruise takes just 1 hour and you do not surely get stuck in a traffic jam.
“Highly recommend this half day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Speedboat ride down the Saigon River beats driving in traffic and only take an hour and was very relaxing. Our tour guide Hang was great and provided us with lots of information both on our journey out to the tunnels and while we were at the tunnels. The lunch provided was a lovely surprise, much nicer than we expected. Plenty of drinks and fruit etc provided on the trip there and back. This tour is great value!” said by a visitor on trip advisor
It would be incredible enough to be outside of bustling Sai Gon and enjoy a peaceful countryside and an amazing world of water. After that you will arrive at the Ben Dinh Pier near the Cu Chi tunnels, step into a jungle of banyan trees and make a short to Cu Chi.
“Fantastic trip and so glad we did it by speed boat. Amazing way to see how the river people live and the amount of traffic that goes up and down this busy river.
The Cu Chi tunnels were a real eye opener! Fantastic guides too” said by a visitor on trip advisor

Tips to travel
Make it simple
When choosing Cu Chi tunnels tour by boat, you should think very carefully about what you might actually need for a half day tour, and cross everything else off your list.
“We did the 7 am tour – pick up was prompt, and the boat trip was great. The boat was spotless and in great shape and definitely a nice way to travel. The tour itself was really interesting – our guide Tony was knowledgeable and very interesting, and we beat the crowds. We learned lots and the crawl through a short section of the tunnels is definitely an experience!”said by a visitor on Trip Advisor
Choose smart clothing options.
You can feel free to choose your own dress code. However, you should make sure to pick an item of clothing that you do not mind getting dirty as you will be going underground.
More over, a comfortable pair of sneakers is a good idea as you will be walking around quite a lot onsite. Don’t forget to bring sunblock, bug spray, and insect repellent are great to have in your bag.
“Fit perfectly with my needs of seeing the Cu Chi tunnels but not taking a full day tour. The staff was superb in informing you of the life of the people at that time. The meal was delicious and the speedboat ride thrilling.”said by a visitor on Trip Advisor
Keep hydrated and energized
Between the hot and humid weather, it’s easy to get dehydrated on a boat. Toting a refillable water bottle around with you wherever you go provides a good reminder to drink up.
“Loved the boat trip as much as the tunnels – flying along the serene Saigon river – still on the way there and dramatic in a tropical downpour on the way back. Loved it – the guides who clearly were passionate about their country and heritage – delightful lunch, water and snacks provided and of course the tunnels and the dramatic history. An experience to be remembered.”said by a visitor on Trip Advior

Be prepared (for the possibility of motion sickness)
Tourists who has claustrophobia and high-blood pressure should not make any attempt to go into the underground. You can still enter the larger dugouts if you like. You can see some awesome activities at Cu Chi site here
